Two in custody following string of break and enters, wild foot chase

first_imgWhile trying to “disable” the stolen truck, RCMP say the man fled by foot once again, and saw him carrying two shotguns into some woods in the Bear Mountain Ski Hill area.Late Friday night, police advised residents to stay in their homes and lock their doors.It was three hours later when police caught scent of the suspect again, after a resident spotted him on the ski hill road.Police rushed the area, and yet again, the man broke into a shop, stole a quad, and revved off through the bush. Police say the man rolled the stolen quad, and broke into another home to steal another.Advertisement Police say they caught up with the man fleeing through farm fields before he was “safely” taken into custody.The pair remain in custody, and RCMP say they are still assembling charges.We will update this story as more information becomes available. RCMP in Dawson Creek say they are still compiling a full list of charges after a 36-year-old man led police on a foot chase rampage throughout the South Peace that left an officer assaulted, and at least half a dozen different homes and businesses raided and vandalized.The man, whose name has yet to be released, was arrested July 10 in a farm field after police issued a lock down alert to residents in the Bear Mountain Ski Hill area late Friday afternoon.RCMP say they were responding to several break and enter complaints in Groundbirch earlier in the day when they first ran into the man, along with his 22-year-old female accomplice, riding a stolen motorcycle from Edmonton.- Advertisement -Police say they arrested the 22-year-old woman, who was carrying a trove of stolen property, including two guns and ammunition.But the man had a different plan, striking an officer and running off to a nearby shop. Officers were chasing after the man when he smashed a Dodge pickup through the shop’s overhead doors, narrowly missing the officers.The man sped away, and broke into another two buildings before officers caught up with him on Radar Lake Road, according to police.Advertisementlast_img read more
