When do NFL players report to 2020 training camp?Rookies: July 21Quarterbacks and injured players: July 23All other players: July 28NFL training camp newsReigning Super Bowl champions the Kansas City Chiefs, along with the Houston Texans, have been granted permission to start camp earlier because they kick off the season on September 10, three days before other teams are in action. Rookies for both those teams will report on Monday, NFL Media said.Even with camps set to open, discussions are ongoing between the NFL and NFL Players Association (NFLPA) regarding health and player safety protocols amid the coronavirus pandemic. One of the biggest requests from the NFLPA is daily player testing for COVID-19 as opposed to every other day. The NFLPA said on Thursday that 72 players were known to have tested positive, as of July 10. The NFL told its 32 teams on Saturday that training camps can start on schedule in the coming week.NFL Media’s Tom Pelissero added that teams are still taking additional health protocols. Pelissero says “only 20 players would be allowed in the facility at a time, until the NFLPA signs off on infectious disease emergency response plans for each club. If protocols aren’t met, a grievance could follow. But clubs have the right to set reporting dates within CBA rules.” MORE: Madden 21 features five 99 overall players

16 January 2012South Africa’s Branden Grace captured his maiden European Tour title and his second Sunshine Tour win in the Joburg Open on Sunday. “It’s a dream come true,” he said.Just prior to the event, Grace had picked up the Gary Player Trophy at the Sunshine Tour’s annual awards for the leading stroke average on last season’s Tour. He continued his low-scoring form on the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington Golf Club’s East and West courses. With three excellent rounds of five-under-par 67, six-under 66, and seven-under 65, it was Grace’s tournament to lose after three rounds and a final round level-par 72 was enough to earn him victory by a single shot over Jamie Elson.Set the course alightThe Englishman set the course alight over the final 18 holes, firing a nine-under-par 63 to rocket up the leaderboard, making it into the clubhouse on 16-under-par 271. Despite the pressure his superb effort created, Grace held firm to claim the victory.“It’s been a long time coming and it’s nice to take my first win at home,” he told the Sunshine Tour’s website. “Hard work and consistency paid off.“From just getting my European Tour card, to gaining exemption, to playing events I never thought I would, this year has really been unbelievable.”‘I stuck to my game plan’He added: “I didn’t really look at the leaderboard, but I did see that Jamie was 16-under and finished, so I knew it was up to my hands. But I stuck to my game plan and that was enough at the end.”With Elson finishing early and with an eagle on the last hole, Grace needed to keep his game together; his round could hardly have been more solid, consisting of 16 pars, one bogey and one birdie. The victory earned Grace the biggest cheque of his career, worth €206 050 (approximately R2.12-million), and further earned him a European Tour exemption until the end of 2013 and a place at the 2012 Volvo Golf Champions, which take place at Fancourt from 19 to 22 January. The Fancourt field features only winners of European Tour events in the past year, as well as current Tour members who have won at least 10 European Tour titles. With the win, Grace also moved to the top of the European Tour’s Race to Dubai standings. They’re currently dominated by South Africans, with Louis Oosthuizen in second place, Joburg Open runner-up Jamie Elson in third, Tjaart van der Walt in fourth, Jaco van Zyl in fifth, and Retief Goosen in sixth.Missed the cutGrace succeeded Charl Schwartzel as champion. Schwartzel, ranked inside the world’s top 10, was the two-time defending champion but surprisingly missed the cut by one shot. There was a logjam for third place with Scotland’s David Drysdale and Marc Warren joining South Africans Michiel Bothma, Trevor Fisher junior, Dawie van der Walt and Jaco van Zyl on 14-under-par 273.George Coetzee was in a strong position after three rounds on 14-under-par, but a disappointing final round of 75 took him out of the mix and dropped him to a share of fourteenth place.Retief Goosen enjoyed two strong rounds, opening with a 66 and 67, but those were followed by rounds of 71 and 73, which took him out of the running, and left him on 10-under 277 in 16th place.LEADERBOARD(South African unless otherwise stated) Branden Grace (-17) 67, 66, 65, 72, 270Jamie Elson (Eng) (-16) 63, 75, 70, 63, 271Michiel Bothma (-14) 68, 66, 68, 71, 273David Drysdale (Sco) (-14) 65, 72, 69, 67 273Trevor Fisher jnr (-14) 68, 68, 69, 68 273Dawie van der Walt (-14) 70, 66, 67, 70, 273Jaco van Zyl (-14) 67, 69, 69, 68, 273Marc Warren (Sco) (-14) 66, 69, 70, 68, 273Jbe Kruger (-13) 67, 66, 69, 72, 274George Murray (Sco) 65, 69, 73, 67, 274Robert Rock (Eng) 65, 67, 72, 70, 274Bernd Wiesberger (Aut) 70, 66, 69, 69, 274 Would you like to use this article in your publication or on your website? South Africa kept its fourth position out of 54 countries in the 2015 Ibrahim Index of African Governance, released on Monday, and edged up in the safety and rule of law category. South Africa’s ranking on the 2015 Ibrahim Index of African Governance didn’t remains at fourth spot as last year. Slight improvements have been made to the country’s rule of law and rural sector. (Images: Brand South Africa) • Piketty’s focus on inequality may also set a blueprint for the study of economics • We look up to you: Ibrahim • Active citizenship in South Africa at a healthy level • South Africa rises 7 places in annual WEF Global Competitiveness Index • What South Africa can learn from Piketty about addressing inequality Shamin ChibbaSouth Africa has kept its fourth position out of 54 countries on the Ibrahim Index of African Governance (IIAG), while gaining ground in the safety and rule of law category. According to the 2015 IIAG, released in London on Monday 5 October, the country’s overall score increased by 0.2 points from 72.8 in 2013 to 73 in 2014.This follows an improved performance in the 2015/16 World Economic Forum annual Global Competitiveness Index, released last week, which saw South Africa rise seven places from 56 to 49 of 140 countries. The Ibrahim Index ranks a country’s overall governance within the African context. It is organised into four distinct conceptual categories: economic opportunity, safety and rule of law, participation and human rights, and human development. The IIAG, produced annually since 2007, is one of the key initiatives the Mo Ibrahim Foundation – established by Sudanese-British mobile communications mogul Mo Ibrahim – uses to improve governance and leadership in Africa.Improved data this year allows South Sudan, Africa’s newest country, to be included in the index, together with its northern neighbour Sudan.South Africa’s law, safety improvingWithin the safety and rule of law category, South Africa’s increasing standards were reflected in the score, moving from 66.9 in 2013 to 68.4 in 2014.While the country’s business environment remains stable, its rural sector improved from 59.8 in the previous index to 62.3 this year.According to a statement from the Ibrahim Foundation, the gap in overall governance between the regions is widening, with Southern Africa still the best performing region with an average of 58.9. “[They are] followed by West Africa (52.4), North Africa (51.2) and East Africa (44.3). Central Africa is the lowest ranking region with an average score of 40.9, and is the only region to have deteriorated since 2011.”There has also been a marginal improvement in Africa’s overall governance. This is “underpinned by positive performances in only two categories, human development (+1.2) and participation and human Rights (+0.7)”. However, the index found both sustainable economic opportunity (-0.7) and safety and rule of law (-0.3) have deteriorated. Note that the ranking cannot be compared with previous years’ data. Annual refinements are made to the scores, and the entire IIAG dataset is revised retrospectively. Analysis above therefore draws comparisons between years based entirely on 2015 IIAG dataset. For more details on methodology, see themethodologysection of the IIAG website.
Most brands of foil-faced bubble wrap are only 3/8 inch thick or less, and have an R-value of only 1.0 or 1.1. Since the product often costs more per square foot than 1-inch thick rigid foam rated at R-5, why would anyone use bubble wrap as insulation? The R-value of foil-faced bubble wrap is so low that it has few, if any, advantages over rigid foam. Of course, the product’s foil facing can be used as a radiant barrier — but if you want a radiant barrier, cheaper products are available. (The bubble wrap layer is unnecessary, since it adds cost to the material without adding any useful thermal performance.)Since the main benefit from foil-faced bubble wrap is due to its radiant-barrier facing, the product is basically worthless unless it faces an air space. A decade ago, when I was the editor of Energy Design Update, I noticed that many manufacturers of foil-faced bubble wrap were promoting their products for use under concrete slabs on grade. In this application, the shiny foil is clearly not facing an air space, so the exaggerated R-value claims made by bubble-wrap manufacturers were particularly outrageous. My article exposing the bubble-wrap scammers appeared in the September 2003 issue of EDU.In that article, I reported that one manufacturer, WE International, made absurd claims about a thin (5/16-inch) product called Concrete Barrier rFoil. The manufacturer’s website boasted, “Concrete Barrier can serve three purposes underneath concrete: R-10 insulation, a vapor barrier and a radon barrier. … How does it compare to 2-inch foam board? It works just as well.”Similarly, Insulation Solutions, the manufacturer of a 3/8-inch thick product called Insul-Tarp, claimed that the flexible tarp has an “R-value equivalent” rating of R-5 to R-10.After these lies were publicized, three manufacturers wrote letters to EDU apologizing for the “oversights”… This article is only available to GBA Prime Members Sign up for a free trial and get instant access to this article as well as GBA’s complete library of premium articles and construction details. 4Warriors2014-156/16/15103✓1822.3 10Pistons1988-896/13/8999✓1788.1 1Bulls1995-966/9/9697✓1853.1 There was plenty of “greatest of all time” speculation swirling around the Golden State Warriors at this time last year, as they tore through the Western Conference after breaking the 1995-96 Chicago Bulls’ record for regular-season victories. As it turns out, though, the Warriors weren’t even the greatest team of the 2015-16 season, since they lost to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the NBA Finals. I suppose we all learned our collective lesson, because there hasn’t been anywhere near as much GOAT chatter this time around. The irony, of course, is that this version of the Warriors might actually be the best NBA team ever. Although they “only” won 67 games during the regular season, the 2016-17 Warriors had a better schedule-adjusted point differential than they did in their 73-win season, and then they rattled off what is so far the most dominant postseason of any team in recent memory (including the fabled 2001 L.A. Lakers). And if they can take care of Cleveland without much trouble in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, they’ll officially become the GOAT — at least, according to the Elo ratings, our pet system for judging an NBA team’s strength at any given moment. As my boss wrote on Saturday, the LeBron James Cavaliers have had a tendency to make Elo look silly. But by now, Elo has learned from its mistakes and is (mostly) giving Cleveland its due. The main reason our prediction system is still giving the Cavs a minuscule 10 percent chance of defending their championship, then, is that the Warriors are just so ridiculously dominant.Golden State’s Elo rating is currently 1850.5, which ranks second in NBA history to the peak rating of the ’96 Bulls (1853.1) — which was set after Chicago took a 3-0 lead over the Seattle SuperSonics in the NBA Finals. (The Bulls’ Elo would dip to a final rating of 1823 after they lost two of the next three games to the Sonics.) TEAMSEASONDATEGAME NO.DURING PLAYOFFS?ELO 3Warriors2015-1612/11/15241838.6 The best peak Elo ratings in NBA history 6Bulls1996-972/4/97471811.3 9Bulls1997-986/10/98101✓1788.3 8Lakers2008-096/14/09105✓1790.0 7Spurs2015-163/19/16691800.1 2Warriors2016-175/22/1794✓1850.5 5Celtics1985-865/29/8696✓1815.7 To surpass those Bulls and set a new peak-Elo record of 1853.2, the Warriors would need to prevail by eight or more on Thursday night. That’s far from an unreasonable goal; Golden State has the superior rating and is at home, so Elo actually considers them nine-point favorites for Game 1. (The Las Vegas betting line for Game 1 has the Warriors winning by seven.) According to research by Wayne Winston and Jeff Sagarin, the probability of a nine-point NBA favorite winning by at least eight is about 54 percent. But even if Cleveland plays the Warriors close in Game 1, a new Elo record is inevitable as long as Golden State keeps winning. A string of one-point victories in Games 1 through 3 would be enough to push the Warriors past the Bulls’ mark with at least a game to spare in the series. But any loss could be a major setback for the record-breaking bid. Even a three-point loss in Game 1 would need to be followed by four straight four-point wins to pull Golden State ahead of Chicago; a stray double-digit loss would require four 10-point wins in a row. And two losses in the series might prove too much for the Warriors to overcome unless they also rack up offsetting blowout wins, particularly if the Cavs’ wins are spaced apart in the series (Elo gives more weight to more recent games). Then again, it’s also possible that the Warriors could set an all-time peak Elo record after Game 1 and then the Cavs could rally back to win the series. In that scenario, Golden State’s season would parallel that of the 2007 New England Patriots, who set the NFL’s peak Elo record when they rattled off 18 straight wins before losing the Super Bowl. We’re guessing the Warriors would probably rather have the title. Source: ESPN, Basketball-Reference.com
Facebook Twitter Google+LinkedInPinterestWhatsAppAnother brazen daytime heist is exposing a sickening trend for the Turks and Caicos and the prevalence of firearms on the streets of Provo. A veteran former police officer and owner of Tag Security Services, Alboin Williams was struck and survived the shooting said to be at point blank range while on a money pick up for Sunny Foods grocery store on Sunday. Williams, was fired upon several times, reportedly while he was down on the ground by assailants who tried to flee the scene in Five Cays but may have failed in that attempt. Police confirmed to Magnetic Media that multiple suspects were in custody being questioned in the case, and a nearby a white sedan was undergoing forensic testing as it is believed a suspect vehicle, aka, the possible getaway car. “The culprits who were described as 5’4”, 5’9” and 5’11” all dark complexion and medium built, got away with an undisclosed amount of cash. Presently, there are two men in police custody assisting in the investigations.”As for Williams, it was unconfirmed up to news production time what condition the man, said to be in his 50s was in… but he did survive the ambush and was taken to hospital for treatment. In an unrelated incident, Police on Friday updated that they found the 2004 Nissan March which was stolen with personal items from a tourist family in North West Point, Provo last Thursday. The car was found ditched in Five Cays in bushes near the beach. Facebook Twitter Google+LinkedInPinterestWhatsApp Related Items:
