Trainer Richard Azan and stable apprentice Bebeto Harvey teamed up to win their second trophy on consecutive racedays yesterday at Caymanas Park, thanks to a 10-1 upset by the unbeaten MARKET FORCE in the inaugural running of the Monday Morning Trophy over 1400 metres for three-year-olds.Azan and 2.0kg-claiming apprentice Harvey had won last Saturday’s open allowance feature for the Bonnie Blue Flag Trophy over 1820 metres with 1-5 favourite FRANFIELD, this in a driving finish from BLUE DIXIE.This time around, MARKET FORCE romped to an easy victory, 4 1/2 lengths ahead of the 3-2 favourite RADICAL, who finished fast after experiencing a rough passage in a large field of 15. MARKET FORCE was never far off the pace in fifth passing as the 99-1 outsider TRUE WHISPER led from EMPRESS HALL (6-1), WONG DON (7-1) and highly fancied MALACHI (2-1).He quickened into the lead on entering the straight, disposing of TRUE WHISPER and MALACHI for a facile win, covering the distance in the good time of 1:26.1. UNFINISHEDBUSINESS at 29-1 was third, ahead of EMPRESS HALL in fourth.VASTLY IMPROVEDMARKET FORCE, who made a winning debut over 1100 metres last November in a two-year-old race, reported with Lasix administered for the first time and looked a vastly improved animal in the process. He could take his place in the 2000 Guineas field on April 8.The race was run in honour of the 1987 Triple Crown winner and ‘Horse of the Year’ MONDAY MORNING. The trophy was presented to the Azans by veteran trainer Stanley Findlay, who saddled MONDAY MORNING to win the 2000 Guineas in April, 1987. However, the horse was subsequently transferred to the stables of Enos Brown, who saddled him to win the derby and St Leger, not to mention the Gold Cup that year.Another lightly raced three-year-old colt showed classic potential, winning the opening race over 1300 metres for maidens by the proverbial city block. The son of Strikewhileithot – VOODOO CHANT bolted off the track on his debut in the closing stages of the Front Runner Sprint when having the race at his mercy, but duly made amends as the 1-9 favourite. He was ridden by Robert Halledeen for trainer Anthony ‘Baba’ Nunes.Among the four winning favourites on the card was the Patrick Lynch-trained 3-5 favourite TALENTED TONY K, who made all in the overnight allowance sprint, holding on by a neck from RAS EMANUEL at 6-1 with Shane Ellis aboard.

By last fall, when the White House proposed a weatherization program whose financial incentives would be available to all homeowners in the U.S., most consumers had become at least generally familiar with the benefits of making a home more energy efficient and the broader economic benefits of programs that, once they get rolling, can create jobs.Coverage of the vastly expanded Weatherization Assistance Program, which is aimed exclusively at low-income households, helped with that. And now legislative action on the administration’s new proposal – the Home Star Energy Retrofit Act, aka the “Cash for Caulkers” program – has weatherization in the news again. And all for the good. The House of Representatives passed the bill, 246-161, on Wednesday, and it now awaits action in the Senate. Twelve House Republicans joined the Democratic majority in voting for the measure, but also managed to add a provision that requires Congress to fund the two-year $5.7 billion program through budget cuts, new sources of revenue, or a combination of the two.As noted in a post by Peter Yost, BuildingGreen LLC’s Director of Technical Services, Home Star has two levels of participation, Silver Star and Gold Star. The former is a “quick start” program offering upfront rebates of as much as $3,000 (or up to 50% of the total project cost, whichever comes first) for certain energy efficient measures such as the installation of new insulation, air sealing, windows and doors, and energy efficient appliances (including furnaces and water heaters).Performance-based standardsGold Star, meanwhile, is a whole-house retrofit option that offers up to $8,000 (or up to 50% of the total project cost, whichever comes first) for comprehensive energy efficiency audits and upgrades to various performance levels: $3,000 for modeled savings of 20%, plus $1,000 for each additional 5% of modeled energy savings. Audits are handled by contractors certified by Building Performance Institute and/or Residential Energy Services Network, although only BPI-certified contractors are authorized to do Gold Star retrofits. The program requires an inspection rate of 20% for Silver Star projects, 15% for Gold Star projects, although the inspection requirement for Gold Star projects is reduced if the participating contractor’s entire retrofit team meets certain certification requirements.A substantial marketHome Star subsidies can be collected in addition to existing credits or subsidies for energy efficiency upgrades at the state or federal level, including the energy tax credit of up to $1,500 that was included in last year’s economic stimulus act and runs through the end of 2010.An Associated Press story on the bill notes that its supporters, which include the home-performance trade group Efficiency First, estimate that 3 million households would make use of the new program, saving $9.2 billion in energy costs over a 10-year period. Supporters estimate Home Star would create 168,000 jobs, mainly in the recession-hit construction industry. In a press release, Efficiency First policy chairman Matt Golden said that the bipartisan passage of the bill “shows how when industry, labor, business and environmental groups cooperate, we can find solution for America. Home Star will create hundreds of thousands of good quality jobs, while saving families money on energy bills.”
Lampard: Why it didn’t work at Chelsea for Salahby Paul Vegasa month agoSend to a friendShare the loveChelsea boss Frank Lampard admits he knew Liverpool striker Mohamed Salah was destined for bigger things when they played together.Salah moved to Stamford Bridge in 2014 but struggled for game time under Jose Mourinho and made just 19 appearances for the club before joining Roma.Lampard was a team-mate of the Egyptian for six months before his own Chelsea career came to an end that summer.”Unfortunately for Mo, it didn’t work out here but it is great credit to him. He went to Italy and then came back and now he’s a superstar,” said Lampard.”As for his path, it’s hard to compare what might have been. The talent was obviously there.”At the time, I think we had a lot of options in attacking areas. Number 10s, wingers, and he didn’t get as many opportunities for whatever reason, but yes, you could see the talent was there.”But the player that he is now, or that came back to Liverpool, I think you have to say huge credit is due. You don’t have to search for anything more than look at Mo himself.”You have to say what professionalism and work ethic, to leave a club like Chelsea is not easy.”People then cast you aside and say you won’t make it there. He went on to be the superstar he is now. It is completely credit to Mo himself.” TagsTransfersAbout the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say
